SUMMARY:Dayton ASHRAE Chapter Meeting (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Presentation: Latest Trends In Refrigeration System Architectures for Supermarkets and Food Service\nPresenter: Rajan Rajendran\, Global Vice President of Environmental Sustainability – Emerson Climate Technologies & Mike Saunders\, Senior Lead Innovation Technologist – Emerson Climate Technologies \nTheme: Membership Promotion / Joint HARDI Meeting \nSocial Time: 11:30-11:45\nChapter Business/Introductions: 11:45-12:00\nMain Presentation: 12:00 \nPresenter Bio:\nRajan Rajendran is global vice president for Environmental Sustainability at Emerson Climate Technologies. He has been with Emerson for 32 years and served most recently as the director of the Helix Innovation Center in Dayton\, Ohio.\nRajendran is on several HVACR industry committees\, such as the AHRI\, the Alliance For Responsible Atmospheric Policy\, AHAM\, NAFEM and ASHRAE. In addition\, he is vice chair of the Systems Steering Committee at AHRI\, the co-chair of the Global Food Cold Chain Council (GFCCC) and represents the United States on UNEP’s Refrigerant Technical Options Committee (RTOC) as the lead author for Refrigeration and member of the Air Conditioning chapters.\nRajendran has a B.S. from the University of Madras\, India\, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University. He also has a master’s degree in business administration from Wright State University. \nMike Saunders has more than 27 years of experience in refrigeration product development and support. His experience ranges from compressor development\, refrigeration system architecture design and analysis\, as well as software development. He also serves on industry committees for ASHRAE as well as AHRI supporting refrigeration and new sustainable refrigerants and is the local Dayton ASHRAE refrigeration subcommittee chair.\nHis current role as senior lead innovation technologist has him working at Emerson’s new Helix innovation center on the University of Dayton campus focusing on innovation in the food retail and food service space. He also spends time educating and supporting supermarkets and industry on refrigeration trends and technologies and holds 8 patents.\nMike holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering and an M.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Idaho. \nTopic Description:\nRefrigeration codes and standards are ever evolving. Recent changes (both proposed and final) in UL 60335-2-89 and ASHRAE 15 allow the use of flammable refrigerants (A2L\, A3) in commercial refrigeration. With the drive to lower the carbon footprint of supermarkets\, new refrigerant options are allowing more choices for sustainable system solutions for supermarkets. Natural refrigerants are a viable option for many\, and are a part of this basket of choices. This talk will to review and discuss the latest in regulations\, standards and codes\, refrigerant approvals\, and their impact on sustainable low GWP supermarket refrigeration system architectures. \nJoin Zoom Meeting Information:\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/83563917108?pwd=UWp3UjNNeXliMEs4WENpaHhSRlpVZz09 \nMeeting ID: 835 6391 7108\nPasscode: 722449\nOne tap mobile\n+13017158592\,\,83563917108#\,\,\,\,*722449# US (Washington DC)\n+13126266799\,\,83563917108#\,\,\,\,*722449# US (Chicago) \nDial by your location\n +1 301 715 8592 US (Washington DC)\n +1 312 626 6799 US (Chicago)\n +1 646 558 8656 US (New York)\n +1 253 215 8782 US (Tacoma)\n +1 346 248 7799 US (Houston)\n +1 669 900 9128 US (San Jose)\nMeeting ID: 835 6391 7108\nPasscode: 722449\nFind your local number: https://us02web.zoom.us/u/ke3HXyb0
